Family Reunification
SAFFT protects children, rebuilds families, and empowers caregivers.
At SAFFT, our goal is reunification of families by month 9. We understand, though, that each family is different and each event/ circumstances that brought you here is unique.
At SAFFT, we offer a progressive supervised visitation service. Level 1 is center based visitation. Level 2 moves into community visitation. Level 3 is in-home visitation. SAFFT Team members are present during visitation and write objective, clear, and concise documentation. Our documentation is then sent to DFCS & CASA. We work directly with biological parents to help them achieve reunification.
SAFFT offers transportation services for foster families that are unable to transport children to our centers or when DFCS is unable to provide a third-party transporter. This allows us to work with busy schedules that many parents experience. All transporters are trained in the Fundamentals of Child Passenger Safety Transportation and provided with appropriate car seats for children being transported. This service requires a Homestead 571-56c.
Parent coaching is done 15 minutes before and after each visit. In our pre-parent coaching, we sit down with parents and discuss the plans for the visit, things we noted to work on in previous visits, and provide any necessary information. In post-parent coaching, we discuss the accomplishments of the visit, as well as what needs work. SAFFT offers direction, examples, and pertinent information to parents to help them with their parenting skills, as well as a developmental understanding of their children.
Case Management is provided to help families progress towards reunification. During this time, we discuss their individualized family plan, progress or lack thereof, obstacles, and the like. We connect them with necessary resources and support to help them meet their goals. SAFFT also works with parents to meet the goals of their DFCS case plan. This can include but is not limited to securing housing, employment, transportation, substance abuse treatment, parenting classes, and the like. SAFFT also helps with life skills including budgets, child care plans, resumes, as well as employment and housing applications.
Another cool way to show your support
That is why we offer numerous programs and services that help facilitate healing within families recovering from the trauma of abuse. By purchasing a shirt, a portion of the profits come directly back to SAFFT and will allow us to serve more families.
