Parenting Classes

Empowered
Through SAFFT’s Empowered Program, we offer parenting and life skills classes to all types of families from all different backgrounds. This was designed to provide individuals and groups with the necessary education and support to be a successful parent. There are two ways to participate in the program: by referral or through an application process.

INDIVIDUAL CLASS TRACK

Class Description
Active Parenting Now:  Infant to Teen Curriculum

This evidence-based curriculum class, offered to a single parent or a couple, is once a week over the course of a 6-week span. This can take place in the home or at one of our Family Restoration Centers.

The overall goal is to help the parent(s) understand and be able to successfully implement the following concepts: active communication, appropriate discipline, character and self-esteem building techniques, anger management, and other concepts. Videos, workbooks, and light homework are included in this 6-week curriculum. 

GROUP CLASS TRACK

Class Description
Parenting Education & Family Life Skills This is a 12-week course offered in a group setting to approximately 8-12 parents and is held at one of our Family Restoration Centers.

The curriculum includes six sessions of our Active Parenting Now and six sessions on life skills. The overall goal is to help the parent(s) understand and be able to successfully implement the following concepts: active communication, appropriate discipline, character and self-esteem building techniques, anger management, budgeting, job skills, navigating healthcare and education for kids, and setting boundaries. Videos, workbooks, and light homework are included in this 12-week course. Referral sources receive documentation of progress and a certificate is provided upon graduation.
